Shamil established himself as a community organizer while at St. John's University. He campaigned across the country and ultimately landed with then Congressman Joe Crowley shortly after graduation.
Shamil was recruited by the top state lobbying firm in New Jersey, Princeton Public Affairs Group. During his time in New Jersey, he served on the Mercer County Community College Board of Trustees, began public speaking, joined the Army National Guard, and then joined the staff of then Congressman Rush Holt.
Shamil and his wife, Daphne Vanessa, co-founded and launched StartNoo.com. A site that in its current form in 2024, helps improve recruiting and retention for universities by allowing for students and alumni to exchange service hours for payments towards their student loans or tuition.
Shamil graduated from Rutgers Law School while working full time and maintaining his responsibilities as a leader within the Finance Unit to which he was assigned.
Shamil maintained a cash holding authority of €1.6MM and $900M with zero loss of funds. He led the execution of pay missions that included over $1.8MM in foreign currency exchanges and oversaw a team that collected over $2MM in deposits. He also reviewed and verified over 182 contractual payments totaling over $13MM in support of nine countries.
